Around the beach there are several restaurants and bars with cheap menus and good food. Carcavelos has showers and bathrooms for a pause between the waves and there are volleyball and basketball courts spread around the beach.

A fishing village north of Lisbon, Ericeira has several good surf spots to choose from, like Ribeira d"Ilhas, St. Lourenço, Coxos, Pedra Branca or Foz do Lizandro. They are beaches, mostly quiet, and are a popular destination for surfers, especially in the low season.

North Beach - Nazaré
The North Beach became famous for its giant waves, especially after November 2011. It was the year that Garrett McNamara surfed one that would be called the biggest wave of the year by Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards, giving the timely and turbulent seas at Nazaré a even greater international exposure.
The Suberco Belvedere is one of the crossing points, from where it enjoys an unobstructed panoramic view of the coast and the beach. Regional cuisine is not to ignore - and it"s not worth leaving without sampling some fine grilled sardines or a traditional stew.
