This year saw the 1st edition of «Nazaré Surf Family», an event for two days, which aimed to share experiences and unite the community around the surf culture. A kind of a great surf school in Portugal.
The program began with a cleanup in North Beach which resulted in a huge amount of garbage collected, in what is now an iconic beach in Nazaré. The oceans are an important element for us all and urgenty needs es to adopt more environmentally friendly behaviors at sea and on beaches. Every good surf school in Portugal can teach you that.
What's at stake in a project like a surf school in Portugal?
The intention to provide a surfing experience to all people that resulted in full. The open class of our surf school in portugal had about 50 holdings, allowing whoever was on the beach the possibility of feeling what it´s like to slide on the waves in the sea. Also Nazaré of Cercina was present.
The Senior University of Nazaré showed a rather jovial spirit and offered a dance performance, which virtually served as a warm-up for the surf lesson of that surf school in Portugal. In what was an unprecedented initiative in Nazaré, an inter-schools championship of surf school in Portugal and bodyboard beaches of this area was organized.
Young surfers and bodyboarders went to this initiative
Adherence was very positive resulting in 44 applications from young surfers and bodyboarders, belonging to the Alternative Sports Club of Nazaré, the Nazaré Surf School, the Pride Training Club by Antonio Cardoso, the Walls Surf School and h2o In Action.
The main objective of this event was to provide a healthy spirit of competition and a good climate of conviviality, and for most of these practitioners this was the first time they wore a surf jersy.
With this philosophy in mind, the organization chose to reward surfers who stood out in several categories, rather than the traditional scoring system.
